The Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF) Biz Day 2024 brought together key players in animation, digital games, XR, the metaverse, and creative technology.
Over three action-packed days, the event featured
insightful workshops, business meetings, and international collaborations,
positioning Malaysia as a regional digital creative hub.
Officiated by YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, and YB Tuan Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, Chairman of MDEC, the MYDCF Biz Day 2024 highlighted Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading regional digital creative hub by 2030.
The event attracted over 1,000 participants from countries including Malaysia, South Korea, India, China, Japan, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, and featured more than 100 speakers from North America, Europe, Australia, and the region.
It served as a vibrant platform for fostering
collaboration and driving innovation in the digital creative industry.
A significant highlight of MYDCF Biz Day 2024 was the SEA Awards 2024, a prestigious event that recognised the best digital content creators across Southeast Asia.
The SEA Awards
celebrated excellence in animation, digital content, and gaming, demonstrating
the immense potential of the region’s digital creative industries.
This year’s awards saw over 300 submissions from more than 10 countries, showcasing the talent and diversity of the Southeast Asian digital creative ecosystem.
The awards
provided a platform for creators to gain international recognition, solidifying
Malaysia’s leadership in the sector.
The SEA Awards 2024
encompassed three key categories:
1. SEA Game Awards – With
107 submissions from over 10 countries, the SEA Game Awards will honour the
best in Southeast Asian gaming across 13 awards. One of
the standout winners was Toge Productions from Indonesia, which secured two awards,
Best Audio Design and Best Game Design.
2. SEA Kre8tif! Awards—This
category received 147 regional submissions, with nine awards celebrating achievements
in animation and creative content. Notable winners included Rawr Pictures,
whose project The Muralz—Year of the
Flying Dragon, swept multiple categories, including Best Audio Design and Best
Animation Motion Graphics.
3. 26th DigiCon6 Asia Malaysia
Circuit—This year’s competition received 49 submissions, with three awards recognising
Malaysian creators for their exceptional storytelling and creativity.
Organised by Tokyo
Broadcasting System Holdings, Inc. (TBS Japan), the DigiCon6 ASIA Awards is an
annual digital content competition in Asia.
As a regional partner, MDEC
has been organising DigiCon6 ASIA Awards—Malaysia for several years, identifying
and supporting potential creative talents in Malaysia by promoting and
recognising their digital content creations.
Through MYDCF Biz Day 2024, MDEC and its strategic partners are excited to continue driving the digital creative industry forward, fostering new opportunities for talent across Southeast Asia.
With the support
from industry leaders and the Ministry of Digital, Malaysia is poised to remain
at the forefront of digital content creation and innovation in the region.
The SEA Awards 2024 honoured a total of 31 winners
across the three categories, celebrating the best of Southeast Asia’s digital
artistry.
